The nature of the illness has not yet been revealed but his reps are confident that he will be ok..
R&B singer D’Angelo is calling off a string of concerts due to a “medical emergency.” According to the “Chicago Tribune,” D’Angelo has canceled his upcoming concerts in Chicago and San Diego. Concert promoter Live Nation says D’Angelo “expresses his sincere regret due to this unfortunate circumstance.”
While the nature of D’Angelo’s “medical emergency” has not been made public, an executive from Chicago’s House of Blues – where D’Angelo was set to play this week -calls the emergency “serious,” but says he “should be OK.” D’Angelo is scheduled to take the stage at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival this weekend. Even though he has not released many albums D’Angelo has always been looked at as the male Lauryn Hill of R&B, he makes timeless soul music but has a very enigmatic presence in the music world. After being off of the scene for many years while he dealt with substance abuse issues the singer reemerged last year and went across the pond to Europe to tour major outlets like London, Paris, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Oslo, and Copenhagen.
The singer also performed here stateside to sold out crowds at the House Of Blues in Hollywood and at the 2012 Essence Festival which brings in a crowd of over 200,000 every year. Pop the top to see D’Angelo’s recent performance in Toronto..
