It’s common knowledge that most heavy metal and rock stars are huge meth heads and stoners, and it’s even more common knowledge that you rarely hear about them getting harassed by the police on the road while on tour. But whenever the cops catch word of a rapper being in town they always find some convenient reason to stop and search their tour buses even if they aren’t causing any public disruptions..

It makes sense for an artist to travel the country with some type of gun protection in place for the maniacs out there that’s trying to take their lives, unfortunately Nelly was at the wrong place at the wrong time and just got thrown in the clink because of it. More on this below..

-CNN reports;

The state trooper stopped the bus carrying Nelly and five other people on Interstate 40 in Putnam County on Saturday because it wasn’t displaying U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association stickers, according to Tennessee authorities. The trooper was about to conduct an inspection of the bus, a Prevost motor coach, when he “noticed an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle,” authorities said in a statement. Two troopers then searched the bus, finding “five colored crystal-type rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia,” the statement said.

The search also turned up several handguns and 100 small Ziploc bags, which the statement said are commonly used for selling drugs. He later posted bond and left the jail, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said. He described the substance that the troopers are alleged to have found as “MDMA aka Molly or Ecstasy.”-CNN

-Nelly’s Statement;

Although I am unable to speak to the legal specifics and my attorney has put out a preliminary statement, I feel the need to take responsibility for my choices in needing to be more aware of the people I associate with and allow onto my property while committing to make better choices moving forward. While my instinct of course, is to be accessible to my friends, fans and acquaintances, the last thing I would want to do is compromise the respect and admiration of my friends, family and fans. -Nelly
