Before Yandy and Mendeecees Harris can even unwrap all of their wedding gifts or watch their new baby take her first steps, the newlyweds were just hit with the news that he’ll have to turn himself in soon to serve out a hefty 8 year prison sentence. Since entering his guilty plea for drug trafficking, Mendeecees have been allowing VH1 to document the legal battle for his freedom over the past few months, and the events will soon play-out in front of the world on Season 6 of Love & Hip Hop New York..
-DAC reports;
Harris was sentenced to 97 months Tuesday for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy that authorities say shipped large amounts of cocaine and heroin from downstate New York to the Rochester region.With his wife, Yandy Smith, sitting in court, snuggling their 10-month old daughter, Skylar, beneath a pink blanket, Harris apologized in court “for any trouble I have caused the city of Rochester.”
With his guilty plea, Harris faced a penalty under recommended sentencing guidelines of up to 10 years. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Sherman requested a sentence close to the 10 years, saying the sentence, coupled with Harris’ notoriety, would show to young people “that there are real consequences to the kind of criminal conduct he engaged in.” The recommended sentencing range for Harris was 97 months to 121 months. Geraci settled on the lesser sentence. –DAC
