Gabrielle Union’s ‘Being Mary Jane’ smashes the competition landing record breaking ratings for BET


The beautiful Gabrielle Union grabbed the world’s attention last year with the premiere teaser episode of Being Mary Jane and she clinched on to it for months as viewers waited like crackhead’s for the 2014 release of the second episode, finally after airing on BET earlier this week ‘Being Mary Jane’ brought in record-breaking ratings for BET by pulling an explosive 5 million viewers.

This is great news for Black Hollywood as it shows that quality well-written shows can bring in just as much cash and attention as the ratchet ones, so I have to tip my fitted hat to Gabby and BET for this move. Read more on this below…

An average of 3.3 million viewers tuned in to check out BET‘s first original scripted drama series, Being Mary Jane at 10 PM Tuesday, after which an immediate repeat clocked 1.8 million. BET reports Tuesday’s series debut’s official hashtag,#beingmaryjane trended No. 1 in the U.S. and worldwide during the premiere telecast according to Trendinalia, and reached a unique audience of 1.71 million people while generating 12.48 million impressions, according to Nielsen SocialGuide. (DL)
