WATCH: Iyanla Vanzant tries to fix the life of Trina Braxton on ‘Fix My Life’ (full)

Trina Braxton and her husband Gabe are divorced, yet their lives are still entwined. Trina claims she wants help navigating her ex-husband’s relationship with her son, Gabe’s stepson, but as they begin their work, disturbing family pathologies emerge. Watch as Iyanla tries to fix their lives and put the pieces back together.

  • Insight2020

I like how Iyanla didn’t fall into the cliche “StepMonster” narrative that Caleb was trying to play on Gabe. She held him accountable for his own bad attitude.

  • Cardio32

    Lmao

  • Cardio32

    He does.

  • Shaquanda Keys

lolololol It’s a combo of ouch and house with a hint of latin accent

  • Shann

Not going to berate you on this as lots of people have this viewpoint, but just to say, not all guys do sports, just like not all girls do hair and makeup

  • Girl Gone

I think Iyanla does a good job with making women hold ourselves accountable for choosing poor relationships and demonstrating bad behaviour instead of just pointing the finger at how bad the man treated the relationship. It would be too easy to talk about why Gabe cheated. The real question is why are they neglecting their children and abusing one another. Chasing fame and chasing ass!

  • Lacy4u

Kay, thanks for understanding what i was trying to convey. I just gave up responding because folks on here seem to take things we say waaay to personal & also like to personally attack & name call when they don’t agree with your comments. I saw today on one of your posts someone had the audacity to call you a ‘ho’. SMH

  • Everyone should be accountable for their actions. True and agreed, but your upbringing does help shape and mold you into adulthood. And if you see no issues with your upbringing, then your not going to see your issues in adulthood. Learned behavior is real

  • “Ouse”

  • NovacaneLibra

    I love Iyanla’s hair.

  • mocha brown
  • braveheart341

Yes. She glossed over him cheating on Trina, and focused on how she abused him. I’ve been giving Iyanla the side eye for a min now.

  • Cardio32

    Lmao

  • Cardio32

Trina must be smoking it, because it sure ain’t helping style her sons.

  • Kay

I swear people are soo sensitive on here now like you literally get dragged for nothing!

  • mocha brown
  • Dreamweaver

    she sour

  • Angel

I havent even watched it yet but lets just say Im getting a KICK out of the comments LOL

  • Adrianna Hughes

This whole damn time Trina has been talking shit about Tamar and shes just as abussive ! Im done.

  • StraightShooter

“You chasin fame and you chasin ass!” Any questions??? LOL!

  • Jazzy Woods

    Not unkept and soiled

  • Cardio32

These negros ain’t kids, they are young adults.

  • Cardio32

Nah, Trina’s sons don’t have any base in their voice.

  • Cardio32

They hang out with suburban white kids.

  • Cardio32

    Gabe favors Pee-Wee Herman.

  • Cardio32

    They look dirty.

  • Cardio32

    Preach !!!!

  • Cardio32

Both of her sons look unkept and sort of soiled.

  • Erica

Wait… so what’s the definition of masculinity, again? Contact sports? That’s super narrow minded. Is it feminine to cry and share your feelings, too?

  • Jazzy Woods

Nope… showed it in the closing credits. They said they would always have a bed waiting for him when he is ready.

  • Kay

    Thanks boo

  • Choose the Red Pill

    He didn’t even go?!

  • Jazzy Woods

Oh yes!!! I watched the Memphitz one and my mouth was wide open. She didn’t address anything controversial. The K. Michelle allegations or how he treated Toya on Marriage Bootcamp. Just wanted him to grieve over his father’s murder that happened when he was 19 and he is now 40. Then they set up rehab for him and he didn’t even go. Smh!!!

  • Jazzy Woods

Me too!!! I felt like Trina may have gotten robbed a little with trying to get closure.

  • mikster

so glad you are in a better place. many blessings!!

  • Kay

Nah, I had no idea what was going on. I was a kid. I just saw my mom super angry and miserable all the time and I didn’t understand why until years later when we found out about the abuse and the cheating and the kids he has outside the marriage. I guess she couldn’t have a heart to heart with us back then cause we were kids. And it’s psychological, like if you grow up in a home where there’s abuse, you’re 80% more likely to end up in an abusive relationship yourself. I had to change my whole thinking patterns and now I’m with someone who adores me and spoils me rotten, and it’s a nice change from being cussed out and threatened

  • Choose the Red Pill

The way Trina pronounces house is taking me out.

  • Choose the Red Pill

I agree except for the LA part. We fail at speaking proper English here.

  • Choose the Red Pill

Wow, Trina’s sons would be mistaken for two different races in public.

  • Choose the Red Pill

    Right I was like tf.

  • mikster

Wow how did u end up picking men like your father….. did you know back then he did all those things?

  • mikster

It’s so strange how we all say at some point we won’t be like them but end up taking on the same traits. Self awareness is so key

  • Choose the Red Pill

Sometimes it seems like the men get away with a little more on Iyanla’s show when it comes to not addressing certain things.

  • mikster

    Bingo

  • mikster

I truly enjoyed this episode. I was all in tears.

  • mikster

Yes they need to let ms Evelyn Braxton sit down with my beloved. That woman is bitter to her core

  • mikster

    This was really good!!

  • mikster

This is so hard to watch I hope it ends well

  • thekeep itonehundred

Its like if the mother is working they’re mad(my mother is always working) if she stay at home they’re mad(my mother is lazy) if she doing both they’re mad( my mother has no time for me). Its already hard having a social life while trying to do everything else. Thats why ppl should have kids in their teens or 20’s

  • thekeep itonehundred

I swear you just can’t win when raising children, they just be so unappreciative when they grow up. Thats why i want my kids to tell me how they feel as they are growing up but in a respectful way. Dont wait until you are grown like ima remember

  • Vickiisecretz

I’m not blaming the woman. I also think their father is thrash too. Please don’t get it misunderstood.

But everyone needs to be self aware in life. We all have things that shaped how we turned out but ain’t no way THEY have nothing to do with their own marriages failing. That’s not mommy or daddy’s fault. They are all between 40 & 50!!!!

    Accountability is important.

  • Lisa King

“I find it kind of weird that 4/ 5 daughter are DIVORCED & none of them seem to be responsible for the break of the relationship.” I Agree with this but i wouldn’t want anything to do with a woman who smiled in my face pretending to be a friend and all the while breaking up my family. I can’t be smiling with the devil

  • LaReyna09

Yes. I also was very surprised that Gabe’s infidelities were not addressed in a more in-depth manner.

  • Nis XOXO

Everyone has issues. They talk about Tamar because Tamar is the one that dogs them ALL the time since the first season and announces things that were not here business to tell, then says I’m just being real, girl bye. She is the one that looks dumb now bc she tried to act perfect and talk about them and now look at her situation. That shit backfired

  • Nis XOXO

I think she just talks like that, she always has. My sister says certain words weird like her and idk how that comes out

  • Nis XOXO

This comment is dumb as fuck, everyone is not the same. Just because someone isn’t into sports, fishing and boxing they aren’t masculine gtf out of here. You sound like you’d be one of those people that tell your son men are supposed to cry that’s a female trait. So dumb.

  • Sy

    NeNe?

  • Jazzy Woods

Honey when they walk off and Auntie follows them with that old broke down wobble walk I LIVE!!!

Iyanla: He said he don’t want relation with u
    Gabe: That’s not true
    Iyanla:

  • thekeep itonehundred

    Children? they old as dirt

  • thekeep itonehundred

I don’t think she brainwashed them. Children pay attention more so than u think. If ur fighting and arguing u think they’re not going to know. They father cheated with not just her friend but multiple women. How is that not damaging? Then leaving her with all the kids. And he refused to talk to them for years HE CUT THEM OFF! It wasn’t until the Braxtons show he re surfaced. Why do ppl always blame the woman in situations like this? Always babying the men, thats what wrong now.

  • thekeep itonehundred

I don’t like the way Gabe tried to put it all on Trina. I think that was the coward way out. I’ve never seen her belittle him on the Braxtons or bully him. It was the other way around. And i honestly think u just can’t win for losing when it comes to raising kids…it always going to be that one kid that has a issue of some sort. And i don’t think any of them should be talking with Gabe. they’re divorced end of story. I dont get it?

  • Danielle Murray

What was the purpose of the divorce if you still letting him lay up and you are nursing him back to health. Trina got a divorce b/c Gabe was making her look bad publicly – if not for the show she would probably still be with him. I would not allow him in my home knowing my son HATES him.

  • Ang

Iyanla did address Trina’s mother showing her the negative behavior she has now. She also called out Trina for chasing fame instead of being a parent. This was one of Iyanla’s best episodes.

  • Vickiisecretz

I can’t honestly say Iyanla was on point this time around!!!!!

Trina’s behavior goes back to how she was brought up. Ms. E showed all five daughters how to be bitter and abusive women. I find it kind of weird that 4/ 5 daughter are DIVORCED & none of them seem to be responsible for the break of the relationship.

I’m not surprised. I never understood why 15-20 years after the father remarried the girls and their mother are soooooo worked up about the father’s new wife being apart of family events. Like that’s crazyyyy?! Like she spent years brainwashing these girls to the point that they ask their father to pick them (Grown ass women) over his wife that claims to be 1 with.

Also with the Jackson 5 type of upbringing Ms E forced upon them at a young age to be stars…. has to do with why they never feel like they were good enough. They were all trying to live to Toni and still are.

  • Tru2ThisNotNu2thisBih

Holly Robinson? Her eldest son has autism but he works for the Dodgers– which is a baseball team. Her two younger sons both play baseball. The middle one is very good and will probably play professionally someday. I think because these young men that you’re talking about are well spoken and not ‘hood’ you seem to see that as not being masculine. Well, attending private schools where they teach you how to articulate and living in L.A., where most people speak proper English will do that to you.

  • N’Deye Delgado

Your vocabulary must be really limited, I hope you can pay your bills with all that willful ignorance your so proud to spew …

  • N’Deye Delgado

Whatever you’re just being an asshole and mean for no reason

  • N’Deye Delgado

Sure sure back track now, you’re still talking about people’s kids no matter how you slice it. Implying her kids are gay or effeminate because they don’t obviously play sports shot you don’t even know if they play sports you’re straight assuming… lame lame lame

  • Honestly Trina needs to move tf onnnnnn ‼️ Let that man go and be with who tf ever .. Her sons seem like they don’t care for Gabe because he’s not their biological father

  • Doris G

Well Iyanla did a good pathology with Trina and Gabe. Really enjoyed this episode and Bravo to Trina and Gabe for admitting their mistakes.

  • CzarloveRHOA

and whats wrong with that…. go read a book and learn to be more open minded fs ppl who think like u are whats wrong with society. I got nothing more to say to anyone on this.

  • CzarloveRHOA

you guys are crazy…. not every guy or girl should fit gender norms of society…. shame on you guys with your toxic masculinity ideologies kmt

  • Ttrini

Ummmm i think Caleb n Gabe look related…..

  • Lacy4u

These are not CHILDREN, they are grown men.

  • Prime McNasty

    go get raped, wetback

  • Tasticks

LOL! She does. I knew that black guy she was dating wouldn’t last long.

  • Cristee2

Yeah, I noticed that too!! It’s like every young boy acts like a girl and comes across weak. They just don’t have a ruff/tuff bone in their body. It’s getting to be waaaaay too much to watch.

  • Cristee2

This was really really good. For the 1st time, I can truly say Iyanla fixed it. This has happened to me, to where you can be bossy and it comes across as being mean…and not even realize that your being bossy or mean. It can easily happen, because of the way you talk to people.

  • N’Deye Delgado

It sounds really fake but it’s always there and has been for years lol I think she just adopted it from hanging out with mad white people to be honest. We all know Trina likes them light and bright.

  • N’Deye Delgado

The word you’re looking for is “absolved” not “resolved” …

    ab·solve
    əbˈzälv,əbˈsälv/Submit
    verb
set or declare (someone) free from blame, guilt, or responsibility.
“the pardon absolved them of any crimes”
    synonyms: exonerate, discharge, acquit, vindicate

  • N’Deye Delgado

YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT CHILDREN!!! Why are you inspecting people kids through your personal filter of what “YOU CONSIDER MALE” … kids are off limits !!!

FYI – Maculinity is not defined as “a love for contact sports” … If you are born with a penis and identify as male then you are a male enough just the way you are. No matter how you dress, walk, talk, or what activities/hobbies/interests gain your attention.

  • N’Deye Delgado

Predictable, when you have nothing to say resort to your trusty bag of generic insults. It’s 2018 bruh you gon hafta do betta !

  • Prime McNasty

    reach deeze, spic whore

  • Lacy4u

Just wondering if anyone has sons that are not feminine nowadays? Is masculinity in the younger population a thing of the past? Hmmm, just a thought as I’m watching Trina’s sons & thinking about other celebs sons like Nene, Toni, Holly Robinson, etc…

  • N’Deye Delgado

Forreal, I’m sayin’ like that’s the real story !

  • N’Deye Delgado

You’re reaching, and your arms are far too short.

  • Pebbles

Gabe ain’t broke! And Gabe want children too… she doesn’t she wants to substitute his desire with hers. Everyman that’s capabke wasn’t there own children and once him and Trina cut ties he will find happiness with someone else.

The other alpha male will not allow Trina & clan to run him…

    Where are those boys father..

  • R C

    Victim of circumstances

  • Tasticks

Oh, yes! It’s really bad when she tries to say certain words like “house” and “out.”

  • Prime McNasty

no such thing as “black girl magic” after all LOL

  • Chance Gray
  • Chance Gray

I was like girl…say house like that one more time…and she is such a drama-queen…Your sister going thru a divorce and you are done!!! “I am over it!!” Tears and all…Bye Trina…lol

  • Chance Gray

As a black man I always say “Everybody focus on the explosion but never the cause of the fire!” It’s easy to point the finger at Rev. Braxton because of his alleged infidelity, however even though we know this is wrong there is a cause to damn explosion itself. We can all play wounded and hurt and not realize our faults and part played.

  • Chance Gray

True Josie! In the black community we miss this important factor. We somehow believe that being done with the spouse is the end of the relationship with the children. This affects the children if done this way.

  • Chance Gray

    Marquisha

  • Chance Gray

I agree with you that it seems like they came to figure out if they should get back together. Iyanla intuitively went beyond that. I do believe that the conversations and acknowledgments were very important for all, especially with Trina’s son being young as he is. A relationship with his stepfather after may not be so bad after certain issues and hindrances were identified. The fact that they aren’t together is less important, in my opinion, than the fact that the reason why he wanted and needed much more from Gabe. He will go on to be a man, possibly some type of father and could run the high risk of becoming what someone else was to him.

  • Kay

    LMFAO Honey!

  • Kay

Girl, I can relate to this soo much. My mom was soo angry all the time too! I remember we’d dread weekends cause we knew she’d be home from work and we’d get yelled at and get a beating. I saw my dad as this calm, amazing energy, but I was too young to know at the time that he was abusive to my mom and cheating on her and having babies outside their marriage and that she was hurt and angry. Now as an adult, my mom and I have the most amazing relationship and I want to make sure I have that with my own kids. I used to attract horrible abusive guys like my dad and not give the “nice guys” a chance, but I finally had to realise the relationships I was seeking weren’t healthy and that its okay for a man to treat you well and spoil you. A lot of us, especially black women, need to realise that abuse isn’t love. We deserve to be pampered and spoiled and treasured.

  • Josie da Goddess

I can understand the reason of this therapy with Iyanla. My brother was in a similar situation. When he married my ex sister n law, she had 2 yr and 5 yr old sons. They divorced when the youngest was 17. My brother continued to be in their lives Bc he said he was the only father they knew and that will scar them for life if he stopped a relationship with them Bc him and their mother didn’t work out.
I believe if my brother would have ended the relationship with his stepsons, it would have affected them negatively in all future relationships.

  • Baybeetricia

    AMEN!!!!!

  • Baybeetricia

    I agree

  • Baybeetricia

He was MIA from the jump….(her first husband)

  • Cynthia Watson

But its over so its no need to bring it up

  • Dee Cade

Where are the kid’s real father?

  • J Neka Js

I think she went on the show so her family can see that he isn’t such a bad person and won’t judge her when they find out they together

  • J Neka Js

Im literally 6 minutes in and I can already see that this is really about Trina getting back with Gabe. Girl it’s been 2 years and y’all don’t have have any ties so what’s the confusion. And your son don’t need a relationship with him. That boy a grown ass man. He don’t need a relationship with him especially that y’all ain’t together

  • Trice

Yep I had the same reaction when I heard gutttersnipe

  • Trice

My mother too ..she worked with children then came home to children

  • Queen Cocoa

Honestly growing up I used to feel like my mother was Always mad, she’d come home from work angry n Inever understood y n I still don’t, but we as black women have to notice the generational patterns, my mother is very negative and so is my grandma. I promised myself I would never be like my mother angry, bitter and holding on to hurt, angry all time running every man off. I refuse to be that way or be that type of mother to my son. Whatever a man, friend or family member or whoever, has done to you let it go, cut them off move on n be happy period, do it for yourself.

  • Twine

Mommy is reason for all of their dysfunction! That lady ran her husband into the arms of another woman and screwed her daughter’s up in the process. Being a strong woman is one thing, but being a Bytch is something that will have u alone.

  • R C

    40th

  • Ang

She improved their communication, opened their eyes to the deeper issues they have and the root cause of them and put them on the right track to mending their relationship. Iyanla can’t be expected to do any more than that.

  • Honey

Both of Trina sons weird AF!!! Especially her oldeast son wit that James Brown hairdo!!

  • ~~eb

Ma’am, no one resolved him of his issues. Take your hostility elsewhere. Mama E never dealt with her hurt with what Mr. Braxton did and that anger and bitterness towards men she taught her daughters.

  • marquisha
  • Kay

I love how Iyanla will follow someone if they storm off then say “there’s no cameras… It’s just you and me..” Meanwhile, their mic is still on and we can hear everything. Iyanla’s a savage!

  • Kay

Girl, I was thinking this exact thing like if you have kids together, that’s where it’s tricky and you have to stay in each other’s lives but these two literally have no kids together, don’t work together, they have no permanent links to each other. It should be easy to just walk away.

  • Kay

How come Iyanla didn’t even go into Gabe’s cheating?

  • Eye!

    Omg

  • Tasticks
  • Baybeetricia

Trina KNOWS Ms. E taught her how to be mean and bitter; at that is straight facts. I have nothing against Ms. E but she has held on to her hatred for Michael Sr for years it was inevitable for it to spill over into the interaction that her daughters have with other people.

  • Baybeetricia

That is true but if he tells you that he does not like his step father, your ex husband, and that he never has why do you think he will change his mind when he no longer HAS to be in contact with him? The elimination of Gabe from his life does not mean that his dislike will vanish, especially since he told Trina that after she divorced Gabe. It just means he no longer has to worry about it his dislike for Gabe.

  • marquisha

So did we fix Gabe and Trina relationship or caleb’s…..cause ummm they barely talked.

  • Miracle

It’s Easter so some of us had to hang out at the church a lil longer today before getting back to the mess

  • Miracle

Oh so her cheating ass father doesn’t have anything to do with it huh?????? Oh ok

  • MelaninGoddess

Broad always sound like she has a cold. I’m like chile aren’t you from Baltimore? Why are sounding like a sick Canadian?

  • KumQuat

There’s something about a man getting emotional on tv that just tugs at my (tiny) little heart.

I felt for Gabe in that moment. Men be going thru it just like women do, although it can be a little harder for us to notice it. Sometimes we women gotta be a little more willing to look at something objectively instead of emotionally first. And y’all men gotta be more vocal about what’s going on.

  • marquisha

    I said the EXACT thing

  • Baybeetricia

Why are they trying to salvage a relationship though? I’m 10 mins in and I can’t understand why. They don’t have any biological children, no businesses together so what’s the real reason? Is this just for TV or does she want to give their marriage (or their relationship) another try but she is scared of what her family might say? I don’t get it…..

  • MelaninGoddess

Children go through phases, just because he may have had an issue with Gabe at one point doesn’t mean that he’ll hate him forever. Be for real

  • ChildofVenus

I’ve never understood what Trina see’s in Gabe…

  • Baybeetricia

    LOL.

  • Baybeetricia

The entire Braxton clan have issues with boundaries so I’m not even surprised Trina still acting like his wife, still have Gabe up in her house, still going out with him and still having sex with him. What she need to stop doing is trying to force a relationship between Caleb and Gabe. That boy is 19! He can make his own decision on who he wants in his life

  • KumQuat

“YOU CHASING FAME AND YOU CHASING ASS!”

Beeeeeeeeetch that had my titties SHOOK! Where was the lie doeee?????

  • KumQuat

right!! it’s making me mad that all of these inconsistencies are coming out and no one is saying to trina “hold up girl you lying!”

  • Baybeetricia

No..her episode isn’t shown yet. It might be season finale or something LOL. You should watch the Mitchell brothers 3 part one as well

  • Baybeetricia

Trina lying! She mentioned, last season on BFV that Caleb does not like Gabe, hell Caleb said it himself, so she is well aware that he does not like Gabe and that he NEVER liked Gabe so why is she acting so clueless?

  • KumQuat

wait y’all did they do Nazel E yet? lol i didn’t even know we were 5 episodes in to this season. I only seen the kidnapped girl and Memph-no-hitz episode lol

  • KumQuat

lmaooo girl thats how i know how hot the tea gon be

  • Chudney Hadura Williams

nigga said ii don’t see no comments.

ii do the saaaaammeeee thing. lmaaaooooo

  • Baybeetricia

I was looking for this video!! Thanks!

  • marquisha

wth I thought they fixed their relationship on season 5 Braxton Family Values…Gabe really dont have to have a relationship with him, its not his son….she cant make him be a father to someone else son even if he raised him….sigh

  • mikster

    Lmbo

  • Bri Truthful

oh yeah it’s definitely a good feed

  • ~~eb

We all know Mama Braxton is the root of Trina’s disfunction towards men.

  • Tasticks

    I can’t do Trina’s fake accent.

  • KumQuat

lmao i hope so i just started this and i seen NO comments i got nervous lol

  • mikster

    is it worth watching?

  • Bri Truthful

This is sadly and oddly disturbing

  • Bri Truthful

    First!!
